''Tough Times and Everyone is Concerned: How to Find the Leaders and How to Get Teams to Close the Performance Gap''
Details of the Presentation and Dialog
Session
Perhaps there is no better example of leadership in tough times than what we celebrated in Chicago last week. The Chicago Blackhawks recently ended a 49-year drought and won the Stanley Cup! When Rocky Wirtz, one of the sons of Bill Wirtz, took over the team, he made many changes. A few years later, the Blackhawks closed the performance gap--climbing from a mediocre team with lots of empty seats to champions and the hottest ticket in town. Although some of the necessary changes were painfully obvious to long-suffering Blackhawks fans, little happened during the many years this family-run business remained stuck in its ways. Family businesses can bring additional challenges--agendas that have little to do with the business. Our presenter this month has worked with many family firms, turning them into champions of business.
