Leadership in Tough Times--Closing the Performance Gap, with John Walsh

''Tough Times and Everyone is Concerned: How to Find the Leaders and How to Get Teams to Close the Performance Gap''

Details of the Presentation and Dialog Session

Perhaps there is no better example of leadership in tough times than what we celebrated in Chicago last week. The Chicago Blackhawks recently ended a 49-year drought and won the Stanley Cup! When Rocky Wirtz, one of the sons of Bill Wirtz, took over the team, he made many changes.  A few years later, the Blackhawks closed the performance gap--climbing from a mediocre team with lots of empty seats to champions and the hottest ticket in town. Although some of the necessary changes were painfully obvious to long-suffering Blackhawks fans, little happened during the many years this family-run business remained stuck in its ways. Family businesses can bring additional challenges--agendas that have little to do with the business. Our presenter this month has worked with many family firms, turning them into champions of business.

About John Walsh
John Walsh is CEO of For Leadership Success. He was recently the President of the Chicago chapter of the National Speakers Association. Jon Paul has known him for many years as a fellow member of the Institute of Management Consultants.

It's not often that you have the opportunity to engage someone who is a successful entrepreneur, motivational speaker, business consultant, President & CEO, and leader in corporate America. These experiences enable John to address audiences in a variety of industries--from automotive to x-rays, including financial, manufacturing, distribution, and service associations. In addition, John’s experience serving on the Board of Directors of four family businesses has provided him with skill in asking questions about processes and allowing management teams to focus on solving problems and implementing strategies. He is a skillful innovator and motivational speaker whose focus is on increasing growth and raising profits through high-impact, user-friendly keynote speeches and business interactive seminars. Enjoy this thought-provoking facilitator who will challenge you to think, plan, and take action in a strategic manner involving leadership, customer appreciation, and employee development.

John Walsh earned a business degree from Michigan State University, while playing football for Hall of Fame coach Duffy Daugherty. With an MBA from Northern Illinois University, John has taught as an adjunct faculty member of the Keller Graduate School of Management's MBA Program.
