Details of the Presentation and Dialog Session
The funding source of a higher education institution is irrelevant to the quality of the institution. Students, employers, taxpayers, and policymakers are more interested in quality educational outcomes. Are institutions providing quality education and are they held accountable for their outcomes? Do they meet the needs of students, employers, and society? Private-sector colleges and universities, like public and independent institutions, deliver quality outcomes and, thus, occupy a vital place in the U.S. higher education system. They should be treated equally and evaluated based upon the quality of the education provided. And public policies should reflect the critical role the private sector plays in educating underserved communities, driving economic growth, and building our nation’s educational capacity.
