North Shore Interest Group Breakfast
Glenn Raines, Social Media Moves
Thursday, December 10, 7:30 a.m.
Details of the Presentation and Dialog Session
While most of the social media talk and hype has been around Facebook, Twitter and the like, a more significant transformation is taking place in our society, belief systems and commerce. Glenn steps out of the tunnel vision of “social media” to look at the “big picture” where mass marketing and mass media consumption is making way to a new social empowerment where consumers and customers now define brand value and relevance. Glenn provides a sweeping overview of emerging social business processes and tactics such as private user communities, enterprise microblogging, peer influence mapping, user-generated content, product development crowd sourcing, as well as the impact that content portability will have as it decouples from the publishing website and is redefined contextually as it travels to other web environments.
About Glenn Raines
Glenn is one of the quintessential “left brain, right brain” – having worked as an advertising copywriter, strategic brand marketer, Internet business strategist, qualitative market researcher and pharmaceutical influence mapper. Glenn spent his early career in consumer sales promotions and trade marketing for such major consumer packaged goods companies as Nestle USA. He subsequently led strategic creative engagements for medical device, pharmaceutical and biotech clients including Baxter Healthcare and Toshiba Medical Imaging Systems. Later he led qualitative marketing research engagements for such clients as McDonald’s and Turner Broadcasting. As VP Internet Business Strategy at Citigroup, he moved the charge card portfolio branded websites from the static to the dynamic web. After Citigroup, Glenn returned to pharmaceutical and biotech where he led thought leader identification, profiling and qualitative research projects for such clients as Abbott Laboratories, Medtronics and Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America. Glenn founded Social Media Moves in 2008 to consult companies on social media branding and social business process strategies. Glenn blogs about influence in this world in which we live.
